Montecatini, a Tranquil Town in Tuscany

Between Montecatini Alto & Terme

your vacation itinerary is complete

The hillside town of Montecatini is perfectly situated between Lucca, and its massive city walls, and the splendor of Florence with its many museums and monumental sites. Easily reached by car, train and even bus, the enchanting town has its origins long before the Lorraine family, rulers of Florence since the early 1700’s , established itself on the lofty heights and tried to reclaim the wetlands at the base of the hills.

A stroll down the well preserved streets will have you stepping back in time, with it's towers, medieval fortresses, and churches from before the XII century. While at the same time the city offers you a choice of delicious restaurants, cosy pubs and busy town squares where you can enjoy the atmosphere of an authentic Tuscan town.

At the base of the hill you will find the renowned waters of Montecatini Terme, where the nobility and well to do have bathed since before the Medici families started to reclaim the wetlands that have protected the town during many battles from Hannibal to the Medieval times up until WWII. There are many easy day trips you can follow from Montecatini using either public transport or your own car.
